Rules and price formula

What this is

Character Stock Exchange lets players list their favorite characters by name and trade them with free points. It's a fan-made mock market.

It borrows the shape of a real stock market, but no money changes hands. Points are free, and you can't buy them or cash them out.

Spot a favorite early and you're ahead. The more people buy a character, the higher it trades. Popularity shows up as shares held.

The basics

You start with 10,000 points. Come back after midnight Korea time and you get 1,000 more.

Trade 1 to 500 shares at a time, up to 100 trades a day.

No sign-up, no login. Your account opens with a key stored in this browser. Lose the key and the account is gone.

The price formula

Price depends on one number: shares held. Price = 100 × e^(shares held ÷ 1,000).

A stock nobody holds starts at 100 points. Once people hold 1,000 shares, it's about 2.72 times that.

Buying several shares costs the sum of each share's rising price. Selling walks back down the same curve.

Every trade burns 1% of its value as a fee. It goes to nobody. Buy and sell right away and you lose the fee.

The daily limit is 30% up or down from the open, which is the price just before the day's first trade (Korea time). Orders that hit the edge fill only up to it.

Costs round up and payouts round down to whole points, so rounding can't create points.

We picked these constants after more than 40 simulated runs. With them, pumping one stock from many devices and selling from a main account ends in a loss, because the daily limit caps the pump.

How the leaderboard counts

Account value is your points plus what your shares would pay if you alone sold them all now. It's not price times shares.

Price times shares would let you inflate your value just by buying up a thinly held stock.

This month's return starts from your value the first time you show up that month. Daily points you get later are added to that base.

All-time return favors early arrivals, so newcomers this month get their own board.

Listing and takedowns

The titles we listed at launch were removed under their rights holders' policies. Holders were bought out at the curve price just before removal, no fee.

Titles you can't list, and why, are public on the listing page.

Players can list up to 3 characters a day. Fictional characters only. No real people.

3 reports from different traders hide a stock automatically. Holders get bought out at the curve price, no fee.

Rights holders or the people concerned can ask us to take a stock or a whole title down, and we do it right away. Email ok981121@naver.com. Holders are bought out the same way.

What we block and what we can't

Each connection can only make a few new accounts a day, and trades need a short gap between them.

We can't fully stop one person running many accounts on many devices. The daily limit shrinks how far one person can swing a price.

Our list of real names can't cover everyone. Reports and email handle the rest.

Prices reflect demand inside this market only. They say nothing about a title's real popularity or sales.
